I used the COCA to search for any and all verbs [v*] that collocate with storm.
It's interesting to me that people talk about the fact that a storm hit almost twice as often as a storm having passed. How's that for glass half empty?
Interestingly enough, weather (131) and weathered (83) both show up in the top ten (so at least people endure it). It also reminds me of the post I made about Nouny Nouns, only in this case, it's nouns (weather) becoming verbs.
Well, if a storm hits this weekend, I hope you can weather it until it passes.
Have a good one, and good luck out there.
